The first time I went to a movie theater was in 1991 when myy mom took me to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of The Ooze. From that very night I have been hooked on movies. In 1996 my grandmother and I went to see The Rock (which, in hindsight, was kinda weird). From that very afternoon I have been hooked on Nicolas Cage. This was the perfect storm which would fuel the next 30 years of obsession with Nic Cage and movies in general. This podcast is a passion project years in the making and I have the best two sherpas to guide our group through the darkness that is Nicolas Cage. I'm just here to make sure we aren't followed. The dynamic we share and the trust we have in each other does justice to the ears of even the truest Cage enthusiasts. We also challenge each other creatively (see Whiplash).
ALL CAGE AND NO PLAY MAKES BUCKY A DULL BOY
I’ve been a "content creator" since before it was a buzzword. As a teen in the 90's, I was editing music videos with two VCRs, a camcorder, a cassette player, and anything else I could buy from the local thrift stores that I thought would help me create. Did I end up in Hollywood? Nope. But I do get to make videos for a living. In 2010 I moved to Nashville, met Bucky and Oldboy, and almost immediately talked them into starting a movie review podcast (Coolwhip & Sugarcane's Redbox Movie Reviews) back when podcasts were still something you had to explain to your parents... and most of your friends. And now, fifteen years and three podcasts later, I consider myself lucky that I still get to spend my (now more limited) free time overanalyzing a single actor’s career and forcing weird ideas into existence, all while trying to crack up two of my closest friends.
Enamored with storytelling, I grew up making little home movies and writing stories to entertain myself and my kid brother (Raiders of the Lost Ark being my compass). When I saw Pulp Fiction for the first time, I realized movies could be art and it changed my whole perspective on film. Once in high school, I got a job at a local movie theater (Hermitage 4 represent!) and consumed more movies than is probably healthy. But, my love of cinema and stories propelled me to seek a higher education where I studied film and writing. Now, I get the pleasure of working with two of my best friends, Bucky and Juicebox, reviewing one of the most prolific actors of our time, Nicolas (Coppola) Cage. However, my favorite episodes are the ones where we get to exercise our creative muscles on Fast Pitch.
